The new Superb emerges as a completely revamped product in all aspects. An Irish Skoda dealer is confident about the company’s flagship Superb sedan so much so that he offers the prospective customers a chance to test drive the BMW 5-Series sedan for comparison. The move is aimed at convincing the customers that though the Superb is much cheaper than the Bimmer, it has what it takes to stand shoulder to shoulder with the German luxury sedan.

Pilsen Auto’s bold move may not convince prospective BMW 5 Series customers to opt for the Skoda Superb, but we think it would go a long way in demonstrating the Czech product’s excellent value-for-money quotient. The Superb has a starting price of 26,995 euros (around INR 20.48 lakhs) in Ireland while the 5 Series starts at 45,200 euros (around INR 34.30 lakhs). That’s a price difference of 18,205 euros (around INR 13.81 lakhs).

Based of the VW Group’s MQB architecture, the new Superb shares most of its underpinnings with the Passat B8. The flagship Skoda adopts an understated yet sophisticated design which is characterized by neat lines and pronounced edges. The interior too feels decidedly premium. Thanks to a long wheelbase, the car offers ample space for the rear seat passengers.

The new Skoda Superb has been launched in India at INR 22.68 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Both petrol and diesel engines are on offer.
