Tiago is best selling Tata car for April 2016

The Zest, Nano, Sumo, Safari family and Bold managed to clock 1419 units, 1100 units, 814 units, 539 units and 290 units respectively. Not even a single unit of Aria was sold (implies that the launch of its replacement, Tata Hexa is almost near). So even if Tiago is not anywhere near the segment leader in terms of monthly sales number, the decent start indicates that things are moving in the right direction for the small car.
Tata has spent heavily in marketing the Tiago which is touted to be the comeback car after the Bolt/Zest fell short of expectations. The company roped in football legend Leonel Messi as a brand ambassador for its “Made of great” campaign that the Tiago is a part of.
The Tiago is the first of a series of new Tata cars to adopt the new Impact design philosophy. The hatchback is powered by new 1.2L three-cylinder petrol and 1.05L three-cylinder diesel engines. The petrol motors is good for 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque while the oil burner is capable of 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque. A 5-Speed MT is standard across the lineup.
Tata motors would be hoping to increase the Tiago’s sales momentum further in the coming months.
