A total of 48,700 units of Ford EcoSport are affected.Ford India announced today that they are issuing two voluntary recalls to continue with their commitment to quality and complete transparency towards consumers across the world.

Both recalls affect two seperate batches of Ford EcoSport SUV. The first batch of Ford EcoSport recalled, includes 48,000 diesel models which were manufactured during between April 2013 and June 2014. The second batch of recall includes both petrol and diesel EcoSport, manufactured during January 2016 and February 2016.

The first batch has affected a total of 48,000 units of Ford EcoSport diesel. These are being recalled to install a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. Ford India did not reval why the need for this installation. It is not clear that the said batch of vehicles did not have bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines installed or if it was installed, it was faulty. The second batch is being recalled for replacement of bad quality bolts used in the assembly of rear seats.

Ford plant in Chennai is one of the four manufacturing units of the company to produce the EcoSport in the world. The mini SUV is also produced from Brazil, China and Thailand.

Ford EcoSport has been on sale in India since 2013. One of the best selling sub 4 meter SUVs in the country (and now the most exported car from India), it was given a minor update a few months ago. Apart from this, Ford India also announced a huge INR 1.13 lakh price cut on EcoSport diesel so as to make it competitive enough for the new Maruti Vitara Brezza.
