Maruti Super Carry LCV to take on Tata Ace, Mahindra Maxximo

Maruti Super Carry LCV which was developed to take on the likes of Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo in India will make its sales debut in South Africa. It was earlier reported that Maruti found the product to have room to make it more suitable for the domestic market after the initial tests and is currently working on it.

Interestingly, the made-in-India Super Carry will be shipped to South Africa in June even before it goes on sale in India. Maruti is expected to add more such export markets shortly. The company has also released the first official images of the small cargo carrier.

The Super Carry for the African market will be powered by the 1.2-litre GB14 petrol engine which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission to produce 72 PS and 101 Nm of torque. The Indian version, however, will be employing a turbocharged version of the 0.8-litre twin-cylinder diesel engine that debuted in the Celerio.

The vehicle has a payload capacity of 750 kg and will target small scale industries and entrepreneurs. The Super Carry is suspended by McPherson struts at the front and rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear.

The Maruti Super Carry is priced at 129,900 rand (around INR 5.58 lakhs) in South Africa. It will be offered with 3 years/100,000 km warranty.
