Spotted: Datsun Redi-Go spied in Ooty

Will be cheaper than rival Renault Kwid.Based on the same platform as Renault Kwid, new Datsun Redi-Go is all set to be launched in India on the 1st of June 2016, where it will be priced in the range of INR 2.5 lakh to INR 3.5 lakh.

One of our readers in Coimbatore managed to click the Datsun Redi-Go ahead of launch. As per the reader, the car was in Ooty for a TVC shoot. Surprising that Datsun is shooting the TVC of Redi-Go in Ooty and not in a busy city, for which the car has been built.Designed as an Urban Cross, Redi-Go is powered by a 0.8 liter three cylinder petrol engine. This engine delivers 54 PS @ 5678 rpm and 72 Nm @ 4386 rpm. This means it is more powerful than the Alto 800, but less powerful than Hyundai Eon. Mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, mileage claimed by Datsun Redi-Go is 25.17 kmpl. This makes it the most efficient car in the segment along with Renault Kwid.

Based on the concept which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo by the same name, the small car gets a tall-boy design, narrow top half and a wider bottom half. This makes the car look big in pictures, but smaller in real life.
