BMW Japan celebrates the German car maker’s 100th birthday with launch of BMW i8 Celebration Edition in Japan.Showcased at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the BMW i8 Celebration Edition is being presented in Japan in a distinctive Protonic Red colour scheme. However, outside of Japan it can be ordered in a choice of 6 exterior paint options, none of which will include this unusual red color.

BMW i8 Celebration Edition in Protonic Red paint receives Frozen Grey accents across its exterior while wheels are 20” W-Spoke 470 lightweight alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey metallic.
Exterior makeup also includes BMW Laser Light headlamps with LED units. Interiors are seen in a host of carbon fiber accents, leather upholstery with contrast stitching, and LED sill plates. A serial number plate marks the uniqueness and exclusivity of this model while dedicated gray seat belts and velour floor mats are also a part of its interiors.
Limited to just 20 units in Japan, BMW i8 Celebration Edition in Protonic Red paint comes in powered by a 231 hp 1.5 liter turbocharged three cylinder BMW TwinPower engine.
The engine is mated to a 131 hp electric motor which together offer 362 hp peak power and 570 Nm peak torque. This engine allows acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. BMW i8 Celebration Edition is priced at ¥22,000,000 ($197,945 / INR 1,33,06,852).
