Honda BR-V, the 7 Seater SUV, launched last month on May 5, has registered over a record 9000 bookings within one month, since launch. Priced between Rs. 8.75 lakh and Rs. 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the BR-V boasts of 9 variants in four trim levels, with 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engines churning out 98.6 BHP at 3600 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Most of the 9000 bookings received by Honda are for the petrol variant, as petrol engines have been in vogue for the past couple of years. It could be remembered that the same happened with the recently launched Tata Tiago.
Senior Vice President and Director, Honda Cars, Raman Kumar Sharma said that while the sale of petrol cars amounted to 60 percent last year against 40 percent diesel cars, this year petrol cars contributed to about 72 percent of the sales, while the sale of diesel cars went down to 28 percent. Raman Kumar Sharma also confirmed that the Honda BR-V registered over 9000 bookings within one month, while also talking about the consolidated position gained by the Honda among customers, as more and more customers approached Honda for buying cars.
Besides the attractive engine specifications of the Honda BR-V, special features include the Projector Headlamps, Chrome Front Grille, Rear Wiper with Washer, Turn Indicators on electrically foldable ORVM, Bluetooth Connectivity, Handsfree, Steering Mounted Audio Controls, Tweeter, Front and Rear Power Windows, etc. Safety features include the Dual SRS Airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), etc.
Due to the higher number of bookings, the waiting period has had to be extended to two months. The Honda BR-V has been expected to take on the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, in its price range, which the 7-seater SUV is doing so in style.
