The 2018 Maruti Dzire which will be based on the next gen Swift hatchback is set to be manufactured at Suzuki’s upcoming Gujarat plant. The new manufacturing facility which is wholly owned by the parent company will begin its operations in January 2017 by rolling out the Baleno.

The next gen Dzire will be the second model to be produced at the new factory and it will be based on a new platform.

Initially, around 85,000 units of Baleno are expected to be produced at the new facility. This would ease off the pressure on Maruti’s Manesar plant which is currently running at near-full capacity. Eventually, the entire production of the Baleno is expected to move to Gujarat plant.

The construction of the new plant is reported to be on track. The first assembly line would have a production capacity of 2,50,000 units per annum. Based on the demand, Suzuki may set up a second line at a later stage.

Coming back to the 2018 Dzire, the sub-4m sedan would derive its design cues from the new Swift whose images were leaked at a dealer conference. A revamped exterior design, all-new interior and added features will be the highlights.

The 2019 Maruti Dzire is expected to employ improved versions of the current powertrain lineup. The current car appears to have no problems in holding the fort until the new model arrives.
