This car can swim though water like a boat

Following a Youtube video of Tesla Model S swimming through a tunnel in Kazakhstan that went viral, Elon Musk, in a casual Tweet, announced that the premium electric car can float well enough to be a boat for short periods of time!

Though he declared that the Model S can be a boat when needed, he also promptly added that he definitely doesn’t recommend the Model S owners to try it.

As you can see from the video, the Model S had no problems buzzing through the tunnel with no real tyre-to-surface interaction. Musk claims that the wheel rotation provides enough thrust to keep the car moving when it’s floating. The video also shows IC engined cars and a truck stranded in the tunnel.

To add more spice to the drama, Elon Musk declared that he is planning to do a sports submarine car that will also drive on the road! He says it’s just a side project with limited market potential.

The Tesla Model S has laid a strong foundation for the brand which now received an unprecedented response for its latest offering, the Model 3. Set to enter production in 2017, the most affordable Tesla has garnered over 3.5 lakh orders in the first week.
