A peek into South America's first luxury sleeper train

Belmond has announced a new super-luxury train in Peru, which will be South America’s first luxury sleeper train.Slated for launch in 2017, Belmond Andean Explorer is a super-luxury sleeper train. First of its kind, it will run in Peru and will operate across 4 different routes between Cusco, Puno at Lake Titicaca and Arequipa.

It will be a two nights, three day trip across one of the highest rail routes in the world allowing passengers to take in the breathtaking scenery and natural wonders and experience the wonders of some of the most ancient kingdoms across the Peruvian Andes.

Designed by Inge Moor of The Gallery HBP, interiors are designed along the lines of Peru’s hand woven fabrics adding soft touches of Alpaca wool. The Belmond Andean Explorer has the capacity to accommodate 68 guests in its exclusively designed cabins which include 2 double cabins, 20 twin cabins and 12 bunk bed cabins each of these accommodations come with their own en-suite toilet and shower.

Catering is taken care of and created by round the clock chefs at Belmond Hotel Monasterio in Cusco and served in 2 dining cars. These chefs will serve up dishes from the region with locally sourced ingredients from the Peruvian Andes.

Passengers can choose from 4 different journeys which start at £323 (US$474/INR 32,035) per person, per night which includes all meals, drinks and excursions. An Observation Car with an open air deck offers some of the most scenic views while the Lounge Car offers relaxation to travelers.
