2017 VW Tiguan 7 seater has been spotted undisguised for the first time, indicating that the world premiere is just around the corner. The extend wheelbase derivative of the second gen crossover appears to have entered production in China.

The extended variant features a wheelbase which is reported to be 110 mm longer than the standard Tiguan’s 2,681 mm. VW has used the extra real estate to add a third row of seats.

The Tiguan 7-seater differentiates itself from the 5-seat model by means of a slightly different chrome garnished grille and a whole new bumper with silver accents. In profile, the increase in length has been masked by a redesigned greenhouse, black lower body cladding, and new alloy wheels.

The rear fascia is pretty much identical to the shorter version. The increase in length has made a crossover a little van-like but it does compensate with added practically which will be appreciated in several markets including China and India.

In addition to the addition row, the Tiguan will offer more luggage space, especially with the last row folded down. The equipment list and powertrain lineup are expected to be carried forward without any changes.

The 2017 VW Tiguan 7-seater is expected to be launched in India before 2018. It will give VW India access to the promising premium crossover segment.
