The rendering imagines the next gen Duster as a crossover with conventional design elements. The current car has a slightly quirky appeal. The first gen Duster is a derivative of the Dacia Logan platform. The next iteration could either be based on an improved version of the same platform or Renault-Nissan’s flexible CMF platform.

Like its predecessor, the next gen model would be engineered with strict cost targets to retain the competitive advantage in price sensitive markets like Brazil and India. The 7-seat variant is reported to be a good 200 mm longer (around 4.7 m in length) than the regular variant.

The rendering portrays the 2018 Duster using a simple grille (Renault version could get bolder slats), angular projector headlamps, silver skid plates, muscular sheet metal design and a rear fascia which is reminiscent of the Jeep Renegade, especially those taillights.

The next gen Renault Duster 7 seater is expected to employ new engines. A 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor and a 1.6-litre diesel motor are the viable candidates. Like the current model, manual and AMT gearbox options will be on offer and higher variants will get 4WD system.
