Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in concept format, TVS Akula 310 sportsbike is being readied for launch in India.TVS Akula 310 concept was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. A fully faired sports bike which embodies TVS’ rich racing heritage, Akula 310 is believed to be launched later this year as the Apache 300. But before that, the company has shared a teaser of the concept Akula 310 on their twitter account.

Designed with inputs received from company’s factory race drivers, Akula (“shark” in Russian) pays tribute to 33 years of TVS Racing history.TVS will be producing the Akula 310 sportsbike from the company plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu while production costs will be kept to a minimum so as to price the bike efficiently. On launch, Akula 310 will compete with KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3.TVS Akula 310 features USD front fork, rear monoshock, dual channel ABS and a fully digital instrument cluster. It will be powered by a 313cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled petrol engine develpoed by BMW Motorrad. This engine will offer 34 hp peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.

This is the same engine that also powers BMW 310 R motorcycle revealed last year. Estimates reveal that this engine will offer 36 kmpl mileage on the Akula 310 sportsbike while pricing will be around INR 2.2 lakhs to INR 2.5 lakhs.
