Mitsubishi has teased new crossover concept which is slated to make its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August. From the looks of it, the new crossover appears to preview a Honda BR-V rival.

The Mitsubishi crossover concept adopts a modern design language which is inspired by the eX concept which was showcased at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. A long body will accommodate 7 seats.

The SUV-ish crossovers with practicality of MPVs is a new trend that seems to have a promising prospect in the Asian markets including Indonesia and India. Mitsubishi, now under Nissan’s umbrella, aims to take advantage of the new segment.

The ‘X’ motif on the front fascia incorporates narrow LED headlights. The front wheel arches are interesting, sheet metal surfaces are expressive and the rear fascia sports vertical taillight clusters (most like to be LEDs).

Further details are scarce as of now but if the concept spawns a production version in the future, we can expect it to employ a Renault-Nissan platform and powertrains. The MPV-loving Indonesia would be the primary market and Thailand is also expected to be on the radar.

In addition to the Honda BR-V, the Mitsubishi 7-seat crossover would also rival the likes of Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Avanza.
