2016 has been anything but a fast year for Skoda India, with the only product launched so far being the Superb. However, we have some good news coming your way as the Czech automaker has revealed its game plan for 2017.

The roadmap will include 4 all-new product launches, along with 2 new variants as well. Here’s a look at what you can expect to see at your neighbourhood dealership over the next 12 months:

Product Launches (Confirmed)

Kodiaq – The Skoda Kodiaq is without a doubt the biggest launch of the lot. The 7-seater SUV will slide in above the Yeti in the brand’s model range and will rival the likes of the Ford Endeavour and the new Toyota Fortuner. The Kodiaq will make its global debut on September 1, 2016 and the India-spec model will come equipped with a familiar range of powertrain options. Octavia vRS – Rumours of the performance-spec Octavia’s return to India have come in by the dozen, but we have an official confirmation that the vRS will return. Internationally, the model gets 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines that produce 220PS and 184PS respectively. It remains to be seen which vRS edition is launched in India, but were hoping it’s the petrol. More details on the Octavia vRS this way.

Product Launches (Unconfirmed)

Suspect number one here is the new Rapid. Skoda’s strongest seller in India does not feature in the brand’s 2016 plans and is certainly showing its age. With the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz walking away with the C2 sedan segment, a new Rapid is the need of the hour.

The second launch expected in the Fabia. The premium hatchback segment is growing rapidly and since the old Fabia was pulled out of the market, Skoda hasn’t fielded any contender to take advantage. Skoda also offers the Volkswagen Up!-based Citigo, but that seems unlikely.

New Variants

Apart from new product launches, Skoda will also be offering new variants – the Octavia ‘Black Edition’ and Rapid ‘Monte Carlo’. These variants will feature cosmetic changes and a few added features. If Skoda does launch the new Rapid, the Monte Carlo edition will most likely be a last hurrah for the outgoing model.
