A production ready prototype of a Mahindra 155 cc low-cost motorcycle has been spotted testing once again. News of Mahindra working on a 155 cc motorcycle is not new but these spyshots give a detailed look at the upcoming commuter bike.

Rushlane has learnt that this particular test mule is almost ready and is slated to enter production in about two months’ time. However, it is purely an export-oriented model.

It’s to be noted that Mahindra exports a bare-bones 110 cc commuter Arro based on the Centuro platform. The new 155 cc budget two wheeler will be positioned as a more powerful alternative to the Arro in export markets.

African markets will be the primary target for the new Mahindra 155 cc low-cost motorcycle. Circular headlamp, twin-pod analog instrument console, spoke wheels and a simple taillight suggest that the motorcycle has been built to cost. Other salient features include long seat, rear luggage rack and black finished engine.

The yet-to-be-named workhorse is suspended by conventional telescopic front fork and rear coil spring shock absorbers. The engine details are sparse as of now but we can expect it to have an output of around 13 PS with focus on fuel economy.

Mahindra is also working on an upmarket 155 cc motorcycle which will be launched in India to take on the likes of Honda Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ FI V2.0 but it is still at least a year away.
