Yamaha R15 V 3.0 set for launch in India

The company is now getting ready to launch next generation Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0, that is actively being tested. In a recent interview with a newspaper, Yamaha confirmed that the new R15 will be much more powerful, faster, refined, and feature-rich than ever before.
This is what Yasuo Ishihara, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor Research & Development India Pvt Ltd (YMRI) told the newspaper – “The R15 will become better in its next iteration, however, no details can be shared as to what would exactly the specifications be like, but we can assure that it will be a step-up from the current generation in all aspects of performance and safety. We also want to extract as much as possible from a motorcycle to give maximum value-for-money for our products.”
The render shows Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 in a new color scheme. Apart from cosmetic updates, engine too is expected to be more refined than before. New generation Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 will receive a new racing blue color along with the grey and red and white color combinations. The bike will be more track focused than before.
Spied at a dealership in Indonesia, updates included new body panels and a digital instrument cluster with blue backlights. It was also seen with upside down front forks and new LED headlamps. It will borrow some elements from the M-Slaz which will include a lowered pillion seat, wheel design, exhaust and other visual cues.
Slated for India launch in 2017, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 will continue to be powered by a 149 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. This engine is currently capable of delivering 16.7 bhp peak power at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine could be tweaked for added power and performance aboard the R15 V3, but will continue to be mated to a 6 speed transmission.
