TVS Apache RTR 200 FI, ABS launch pushed to December

TVS is still working on ramping up the production of Apache RTR 200 variants. The motorcycle which is available in carbureted and fuel injected versions is being introduced across the country in a phased manner, starting with the base carb variant.

We had reported earlier that TVS will commence full-fledged deliveries of the FI and ABS variants of the street fighter towards the end of September.

Sadly, that is now delayed to December 2016. The reason – high demand for Apache 200 in export markets. Considering only the ABS+FI variant is exported, TVS is catering to the export demand as of now and will only launch it in India once they have increased production capacity.

The fully loaded variant comes with FI and dual channel ABS (with optional Pirelli tyres). One can also opt for the FI variant without ABS. Standard features include front and rear disc brakes, fully digital instrument console, clip-on handle bars, LED pilot lamps, LED taillights and split seats.

The Apache RTR 200 is powered by a 197.75 cc single-cylinder 4-V engine which is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The carb version delivers 20.5 PS at 8,500 rpm and 18.1 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The fuel injected variant makes 21 PS at 8,500 rpm while the torque output is identical to that of the carb variant.

Though the difference in output figures is meagre on paper, the FI-equipped engine is smoother and more responsive in real world conditions. The motorcycle targets young riders who are looking for an affordable set of wheels that can handle commuting and touring equally well.
