New Passat facelift to set benchmark for Volkswagen

Volkswagen officially unveiled the 2016 Passat in India at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year. Set to go on sale later this year, new generation Passat claims to set new benchmarks in the segment.

External updates on board the Passat includes new bumpers, prominent grille and options of LED head and tail lamps. The trunk also gets modified as does its front bumper, side skirts and rear diffuser. Sitting on 19” anthracite Salvador aluminium alloy wheels, the 2016 VW Passat receives a sculpted, domed hood.

Interior updates on the 2016 Volkswagen Passat facelift includes a new instrument panel and steering wheel. Superior quality material is seen throughout its interior makeup with piano black accents and chrome trims along with heated rear seats. Infotainment on board includes an MIB II infotainment system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility.

Promising a host of on-board safety features, 2016 Volkswagen Passat will come in with advanced driver assistance system, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking system besides blind spot monitor, lane departure warning and rear traffic assist. Rearview cameras will be standard equipment on board all 2016 Volkswagen Passat.

2016 Volkswagen Passat will be sold in India via the CKD route. It will be assembled at the company plant in Aurangabad. The India-spec Passat is expected to be sold with a 2.0 liter diesel engine and a hybrid 1.8 liter petrol TSI motor. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Toyota Corolla Hybrid and the upcoming Accord Hybrid.
