Spotted: Bajaj Pulsar VS400 ahead of launch in November

A set of close-up spy shots of the eagerly anticipated Bajaj Pulsar VS400 has emerged, giving us a view of upcoming Bajaj motorcycle in hi-res images. The motorcycle is currently undergoing final phase of testing.

Earlier this week, a new report claimed that Bajaj is going to launch the VS400 under a new brand name, and not Pulsar. But the leaked images (from the Leh TVC shoot), clearly show us the Pulsar branding on the motorcycle’s tank. Did Bajaj change their strategy at the last minute, or the new report faulty, we will only know once the bike is launched.

Speaking about the design, the minimalist headlamp cowl, sleek LED indicators, flat handlebar, well-executed fuel tank, fully digital instrument console with an auxiliary display on the fuel tank, stubby silencer and instantly recognizable taillight with twin vertical LED elements remain faithful to the elements seen on the concept. The compartmented headlamp cluster has been carried forward from the concept without any changes.

The production model does feature some changes compared to the concept such as a regular front telescopic fork against the concept’s USD fork and split seats instead a single heavily contoured unit. The fastest and the most powerful Pulsar yet will target touring enthusiasts.

The Pulsar VS400’s engine is based on the KTM 390 family’s 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine but will get the triple spark technology. On board the KTMs, the motor produces 44 PS and 35 Nm of torque. Transmission will be a 6-speed unit. It has been reported that Pulsar VS400’s engine will generate 35 PS and will have a gross weight of 332 kgs.

These spy shots indicate that the Bajaj Pulsar VS400 will be equipped with dual-channel ABS (both discs have ABS rings). Launch is slated for November 2016. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Mahindra Mojo, Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM Duke 390 and the likes.
