Mercedes Benz GLC SUV was presented for the first time in India at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year. Already launched as a CBU in June this year, Mercedes-Benz has now launched the locally assembled variant of the new GLC SUV.

A total of three variants are on offer, GLC 220d Style, GLC 220d Sport, GLC 300 Sport, respectively priced at INR 47.9 lakh, 51.5 lakh and 51.9 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Pune. Apart from launching the car, Mercedes-Benz India also announced an annual service package which are priced at INR 63,000 for the 220d diesel variants and INR 78,000 for the petrol 300 variant.

Mercedes GLC is based on the new generation C-Class’ MRA architecture. Compared to the older GLK Class (which was never launched in India), it offers more space, comfort, luxury, and a more powerful engine. This new launch is part of company’s 12 new car launches for the year. This and widening dealer network will help the brand to maintain their No 1 status in the country.

Sporting a luxurious cabin with a single piece central console, rotary air vents and hooded instrument panel, the GLC will also receive the latest version of COMAND Online infotainment system. Apart from this, there are also a lot more safety assistance systems on offer.

India-spec Mercedes GLC diesel variant is powered by a 2.1 liter four cylinder engine. This unit is capable of generating 170 hp and 400 Nm torque. There is also a petrol variant on offer. This is in the form of 2.0 liter four cylinder mill generating 245 hp and 370 Nm. Both engines are mated to 9 speed auto transmission.
