Ever since it was first introduced in 2009, the SUV has won over the Indian audience with its intimidating looks, tank-like reliability and spacious interiors. Toyota’s behemoth has been able to successfully ward off able competition from the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Ford Endeavour. Toyota is expecting to increase sales significantly with the launch of the new model.
Bookings for the new Fortuner have started at dealerships across the country for a sum of Rs. 2 lakhs. Deliveries are likely to commence in November for customers who have pre-booked their vehicles. The vehicle will be available in three trim levels. The new Toyota Fortuner is equipped with features like LED daytime running lights, LED projector headlamps, A-TRC traction control system, Downhill assist control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation and reverse parking camera.
The Fortuner’s engine lineup contains a 2.7-litre petrol engine developing 168.30 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual gearbox. For the diesel fans there is a 2.4-litre diesel engine, producing 149 PS of power and 343 Nm of torque and for pleasing the enthusiasts, a 2.8-litre diesel engine managing 174 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes, while a 4WD system will be offered in the top spec model.
