The official trailer for the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is out and enthusiasts all over the world are already going gaga over it. It was at the beginning of year 2016 that TrucksDekho had reported about the automaker’s plans of coming up with a pickup truck. The teaser, though brief, reveals a lot about the character of the first from Mercedes. The design, instead of being bulky (as the world may have expected it to be) appears more on the sleek side.

The truck may not hit the company’s vehicle production and assembly lines for two more years, but Mercedes will reveal the concept on October 25, 2016. Dr. Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Daimler had said in 2015, “We will enter this segment with our distinctive brand identity and all of the vehicle attributes that are typical of the brand with regard to safety, comfort, powertrains, and value.” Mercedes will not have any problems in developing the truck as it manufactures and sells heavy duty trucks by different names in the world (BharatBenz in India).

It is rumoured that the truck will be called Mercedes X-Class on completion and will be offered in three different variants. The name X-Class will outline the pickup's off-roading capabilities. The base variant of the truck is said to be paired with a 2.3 litre 4 cylinder engine set up to produce a maximum power of 188 bhp. The middle variant of truck might also be powered by the same motor but may be different in terms of the luxury options offered. The top model, however, is anticipated to be offered mated to a V6 engine producing 255 bhp power and 550 Nm torque. It is also believed that the truck will offer a handsome payload capacity.

Mercedes had already revealed the pick-up truck’s design to be based on the Nissan Navara NP300. In less than 24 hours from now Mercedes will reveal the concept that the truck would be based on, and it is imperative that the video will disturb a lot of Mercedes rivals around the world.
