THE QUARTER-LITRE VERSION OF THE SUZUKI V-STROM 1000 ADVENTURE TOURER IS POWERED BY A 25PS ENGINE AND IT HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE “DL250” CONCEPT.

Along with its new GSX-R250, Suzuki Motorcycle has showcased a quarter-litre iteration of its litre-class adventure tourer, the V-Strom 1000, as the DL250 concept at the 14th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition. The Suzuki V-Strom 250 gets design inspiration from the litre-class model, while sharing its platform with the new quarter-litre sportsbike. In fact, we can say that the bike looks just like a heavily altered version of the GSX-R250.

There’s no doubt that the Suzuki V-Strom 250 looks like a production model, however, the company says that it is a concept. The bike features a rugged bodywork along with the V-Strom badging on the signature front beak. The other body panels are also quite similar to its elder sibling, making it look like a scaled-down model of its bigger sibling. However, all the components have been taken from the new GSX-R250, which might not serve the purpose well on uneven terrains. In fact, the bike also gets alloy wheels and road-compatible rubber from the quarter-litre Gixxer, which confirms that it can be a concept model only.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 concept is sporting the same 250cc, parallel-twin engine that the GSX-R250 has also retained from the Inazuma 250. The liquid-cooled DOHC motor makes 25PS of power at 8,000rpm and delivers a peak torque of 23.4Nm at 6,500rpm. The six-speed gearbox has also been retained from the faired version, and it also needs some modifications for an adventure motorcycle.

More information on the Suzuki V-Strom 250 is expected to be revealed at the upcoming EICMA show next month in Milan, Italy. However, the unveiling of the concept model indicates that the company is considering the scope of a quarter-litre tourer that might challenge future offerings like the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G 310 GS.
