o Give First-Hand Experience To Potential Customers

Launched on November 7, 2016, the new Toyota Fortuner has been drumming headlines with its awe-inspiring looks, plusher cabin and powerful engines. To give more insight and feel to its customers, Toyota has announced a ‘Fortuner Experiential Drive Camp’ across three major cities – Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. The event started on November 11 and will culminate on the 21st of this month.

The Japanese automaker plans to call around 1500 of its existing customers to get a feel of the new Fortuner’s off-roading capabilities across different scenarios like steep inclines, slush, deep water, descents, etc.

Speaking on the camp organisation, N. Raja, director & senior vice president - Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “Ever since its launch in 2009 in India, the Fortuner has enjoyed immense popularity as an SUV for both its on-road as well as off-roading capabilities. As a company, Toyota believes in constantly studying the market and enhancing our products basis the customer feedback that we receive. In the case of the Fortuner, we discovered that our customers find value in the pride of owning a vehicle with full-fledged 4WD capability which can also be used for smooth city driving.”

He also said that the newly developed frame structure of the new Fortuner, which delivers exceptional toughness, have been loaded with features like Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Active Traction Control (A-TRC), among others.

“…we are confident that in the new Fortuner, customers will find value and prestige that goes beyond their expectations,” he added.

Speaking of its mechanicals, the new Fortuner is packed with a new 2.7-litre petrol mill and a new 2.8-litre diesel engine, linked to an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential & paddle shifters. The former puts out 166PS and 245Nm while the latter produces 177PS and 450Nm.

The launch of the new Fortuner has certainly scared the competition but whether it can continue the same supremacy like it used to enjoy with the older version is yet to be seen. Do let us know what you feel about this SUV in the comments section below.
