If you thought only Harley-Davidson specialised in Dark Custom Styling, here is the Indian Chieftain Dark Horse. Indian Motorcycle's version of a bike with a 'dark' aura is priced at Rs 31,99,175 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The bagger is not only a visually enhanced version of the Chieftain but, is loaded with some extra features.
The Chieftain Dark Horse carries a matt black paint job and just to accentuate the bike's looks, it has been sprinkled by chrome trim. Itfeatures a fat fender, a tall front fairing, two blaked-out hard panniers on either side of the flowing rear fender, and a massive 21-litre teardrop fuel tank.
Weighing in at 362kg, the Dark Horse is three times as heavy as any commuter motorcycle. Lugging this beast is a 1811cc, V-Twin Thunder Stroke 111 heart which makes 74PS of power and a massive 138.9Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and power is transmitted to the rear wheel by belt-drive.
The front gets a 43mm telescopic fork with 119mm of travel and a single shock absorber with air-ride adjust and 114mm of travel does duty at the rear. Braking duties are handled by dual 300mm dia rotors with 4 piston callipers up front and a single 300mm disc with 2 piston callipers at the rear.
As you expect from a Rs 32 lakh cruiser, the Chieftain Dark Horse is heavily loaded with features, such as an infotainment system with 100watt speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS, oil quality indicator, heated grips (optional) with level display, advanced instrument cluster with average fuel economy, ambient temperature and much more.
Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Dubey, CEO, Polaris Private Limited & Polaris India, said, “The Dark Horse series signature matte black paint is an open canvas for customization.
