Making its debut at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show last year, one of the world’s best selling executive sedan, 2017 Mercedes E-Class LWB is heading to India. Just a few minutes back, we had revealed that the new Mercedes E Class will be launched in India on the 28th of Feb 2017. Now, the company has sent an official invite via a video, which reveals that the new E Class will only be offered in LWB variant in India.

At the time of global debut last year, it was revealed that the E Class LWB has been developed exclusively for China. But it seems that plans have been altered as the customers in India are also very much keen on more space at the rear. The China spec E Class LWB is produced by Beijing Benz Automotive Co, a joint venture between Daimler and BAIC. The India spec version will be manufactured by MB India at their plant in Chakan. Though, the initial first batch is expected to be sold as CBU.

2017 Mercedes E-Class Long Wheelbase is stretched by 140 mm as compared to the regular E Class on sale in India. 2017 Mercedes E Class LWB sedan has a wheelbase of 3,079mm while the overall length is stretched to 5,063mm.

Speaking about design changes, Mercedes Benz has not just extended rear doors and roofline to give it an elongated stance but has integrated a triangular window into C Pillars. This offers rear passengers added 134mm legroom while rear seats are pushed back offering better ingress and egress. 2017 Mercedes E-Class Long Wheelbase in China will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four gasoline engine.

Interiors are seen with a host of passenger comforts that include folding rear arm-rests, cupholders, USB port along with a touchscreen to control COMAND infotainment system. As an option, the rear seat can be replaced with two individual seats divided by a central console fitted with temperature controls. LED and interior ambient lighting in a choice of 64 color options are on offer while safety features include active city braking, attention assist and the ability to glide the E-Class in and out of parking spots via a smartphone.

Engine options on offer will continue to be the same 2.0 liter petrol, 2,2 liter diesel and top of the line 3.5 liter diesel. These options are the same as seen on the existing E Class range.
