The Kwid Climber Is Expected To Be Based On The Kwid 1.0

If you're out in the market to buy an entry-level hatchback that looks different, you should wait until Renault launches the Kwid Climber, which will be very soon. It will be a new addition to the Kwid's variant line-up and is expected to be based on the Kwid 1.0. There will be no changes to the mechanicals, but exteriors will get redesigned front and rear bumpers. New seat covers and contrast coloured elements on the gear lever and door panels could be the changes on the inside.

The Kwid Climber that will finally be launched in India will not be the same as the one Renault showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Compared to the standard Kwid, the Climber will get additional equipment like alloy wheels and roof rails.

The Kwid is Renault's best-selling car model in India, and the company has sold over 1.3 lakh Kwid cars since its launch in 2015. It is available with two engine options, a 799cc, 54PS petrol engine and a 999cc, 68PS petrol engine. The 1.0-litre engine is also available with an AMT transmission. Renault recently introduced a new RxL variant in the Kwid 1.0 and Kwid AMT which helped Renault undercut the Alto K10 AMT on the price chart.

The Kwid is available with five exterior colour options – Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey. Renault has released a teaser image of the Kwid Climber which hints at a new blue exterior colour. For the blue exterior colour, the ORVMs are done in contrast orange shade.

Prices for the Renault Kwid start from Rs 2.65 lakh for the base variant of the 0.8-litre engine. The top variant of the Kwid 0.8 costs Rs 3.79 lakh. Prices of the Kwid 1.0 manual start from Rs 3.54 lakh and go up to Rs 4.01 lakh, while the two AMT variants cost Rs 3.84 and Rs 4.31 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
