A blower, which is fed via the air conditioning system of the car, helps in keeping things cool inside the glovebox. It is nothing short of a blessing in the scorching heat of Indian summers. India’s leading carmaker is likely to equip the all-new DZire with this tech.
It Is Likely To Launch Before The New Swift
We recently compiled a list of Maruti Suzuki cars which will be launching soon. One of the seven cars was the all new DZire sedan which, as we know, will be based on the next-gen Swift hatchback. There are reports roaming around the web which read that the new sub-4 metre sedan from Maruti Suzuki will launch in May this year. It was even spied completely undisguised recently. We thought we’ll compile a list of features that are likely to be offered in the new Swift-based sedan.
1. Dual Airbags As Standard
Like the Ignis, which was launched in January this year, the new DZire is likely to house dual airbags (driver and front passenger) as standard across all trim levels. This will surely attract customers who keep safety first in their priority list of features.
2. ABS With EBD As Standard
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) is a renowned setup that helps in efficient braking power. ABS monitors the wheels under hard braking. As soon as it senses the wheels are about to lock up, it releases the brakes automatically and applies them back on instantly. EBD, on the other hand, decides which wheel requires more braking power and which doesn’t. This is usually calculated on conditions like road friction and body weight of the car.
3. Touchscreen Infotainment With Navigation
It is a must-have feature these days, isn’t it? I mean, if a car that costs around Rs 3.5 lakh houses one, why not a car which is several segments above it? The all-new DZire will, in all probability, feature a touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation. In addition to that, it is likely to get Apple CarPlay compatibility as well. We think the addition of the touchscreen infotainment system is extremely likely as Hyundai is expected to equip its facelifted Xcent with one.
4. Roomier Cabin Space
The DZire isn’t the roomiest car on the inside. In fact, when compared to its rivals, the passenger cabin space in the DZire is just about adequate. With the new DZire, Maruti Suzuki will surely address this downside. Since it shares the underpinnings with the next-gen Swift, the DZire will get an extended wheelbase. That should help!
5. Bigger Boot
In its current-generation, the DZire doesn’t feature the biggest cargo area. In fact, at 320 litres it is the smallest amongst all its rivals. With the all-new DZire, however, the Japanese auto giant is likely to address this issue. With better overall packaging and slimmer seats, not only the new sedan will get a bigger boot, but also more room for passengers.
6. Projector Headlamps And Daytime Running LEDs
Out of its six main rivals, only the current-gen Tata Zest and the upcoming Tata Tigor get projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs. Maruti Suzuki is likely to follow suit and equip the new DZire with the duo, although only in the top-end petrol and diesel trims.
7. Better Fuel Economy With SHVS Tech
Under the hood, the new DZire is expected to carry the same tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines as the current-gen model. However, thanks to SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) tech, which is likely to feature in its recipe, the diesel engine will outgun its present state of tune in terms of fuel economy. As far as the petrol mill is concerned, it is likely to be tinkered with for more frugal performance as well.
8. Cruise Control
The only car that features cruise control in this segment is the Volkswagen Ameo. Although it isn’t the most used feature in cars in India, it might just creep through to the equipment list in the next-gen DZire.
9. ISOFIX Anchorages
If you have followed any of the crash test reports that we have published on CarDekho, you must be aware that ISOFIX anchorages play a vital role in reducing the impact of an accident on a child who is seated on a booster seat. This, with ABS, EBD and airbags, will likely become the mandate list of safety features in all cars which will be sold in India soon.
10. Cooled Glovebox
A blower, which is fed via the air conditioning system of the car, helps in keeping things cool inside the glovebox. It is nothing short of a blessing in the scorching heat of Indian summers. India’s leading carmaker is likely to equip the all-new DZire with this tech.
