In the last couple of weeks Skoda has grabbed the headlines of the Indian automotive industry. First we learnt that that Skoda will launch the Superb Hybrid in India in 2019. Then we saw the Czech carmaker list the upcoming Kodiaq SUV on its Indian website. We even dug out information on how Skoda dealers are already entertaining bookings for its flagship SUV in India. Now, though, things are really heating up as authorised dealerships across the country are now accepting bookings for the updated Skoda Octavia, with a minimum amount of Rs 51,000. We expect Skoda to officially announce that bookings are underway in a few days.

That’s some news, isn’t it? You might ask that since you know nothing about the newness of the D-segment sedan, how can you go and book one? Well, allow us to help. On the outside, the updated Octavia is likely to come with a pair of split LED headlamps, modified front grille, redesigned front bumpers with a different set of fog lamps and restyled alloy wheels.

The carmaker is expected to subtly revamp the interiors of the sedan as well. These changes might include a bigger touchscreen infotainment system which features internet connectivity via the integrated Wi-Fi hotspot and an LTE (4G) module, upgraded parking assist system, heated steering wheel, foldable tables behind the front seats and a memory function that allows multiple users to save their respective vehicle settings.

The refreshed Octavia is expected to launch sometime in June 2017. The Octavia is and always has been one of the most feature-rich cars. We expect a bump in the asking price for the extra goodness. Once launched, it will go up against two of its biggest rivals - the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra.
