Japanese carmaker Lexus, that entered India on March 24, 2017, has finally given a price tag to its biggest SUV on sale today. Ready? The LX 450d wears a price tag of Rs 2.32 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi) and yes that’s a lot! Thanks to a sky-high import tax structure for CBUs (completely built units) and a whole lot of features, that price is understandable but by no means is in reach for most of us. All we can do is drool over the stuff it comes loaded with. Let’s get cracking!

There is only one trim level on sale and it does have a lot going for it. It measures over 5 metres in length and has a gross weight of 3,350kg. To hurl all that mass, the LX 450d is powered by a 4.5-litre diesel V8 engine that pumps out 265PS of power and 650Nm of torque. The powerplant comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to all four wheels. The setup is enough for this humongous SUV to hit 100kmph from a standstill in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 210kmph. Lexus claims that the engine in the LX 450d is frugal enough to match fuel-efficiency figures of 3.0-litre diesel engines. Impressive!

It isn’t all about the oomph though. Lexus is renowned for its impeccably engineered, supremely comfortable cars and the LX 450d is no exception. It comes loaded with features like LED 3-eye projector-type headlamps, LED fog lamps and taillights, moonroof, wireless charging for smartphones, powered boot lid, rear seat entertainment system, rear armrest with climate control and ambient illumination. If all that doesn’t bowl you over, the SUV also comes with heads-up display, 10 airbags, parking assist, multi-terrain monitor and a Mark Levinson audio system that features a 19-speaker setup and is mated to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

If you a buy a car that looks as good and is more than comfortable enough for any kind of journey, trust us you wouldn’t like to step out of the car. I wouldn’t! Anyway, if you think this is the car you’ve been waiting for, you can get one booked at any of the four dealers currently available in India - one each in Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
