In March, 2017, we shared a report wherein the next-gen Volkswagen Polo was spied completely undisguised in South Africa. Now though, the German auto giant has itself released a video which teases the new-gen Polo in action. Unfortunately, the hatchback is camouflaged from almost all angles. Whatever we see though, does give a fair idea on what the new Polo will look like.

From the front, the hatchback looks unmistakenly Volkswagen. The front grille blends neatly into the headlamps, with a big VW logo in the center. The headlamps silhouette is as subtle as ever and comes with a triple barrel composition. While the outer-most barrel has the low beam head-lights, the inner most houses the high beams. Right below it, is the third barrel that gets the front indicator lights and parking lights. What’s more, the new Polo is likely to get LED-powered DRLs, head-lights and taillights. As a whole, the car has grown in size and promises to be a lot more commodious as well.

Volkswagen says that the next-gen Polo will be built on the company’s smallest version of the flexible MQB platform. This skeleton will help the Polo lose around 70kg in weight, which will help in returning better fuel-economy figures. The German carmaker is expected to unveil the new Polo at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its doors on September 14, 2017. VW is also likely to begin production of the all-new Polo in June this year before it goes on sale in multiple markets worldwide.

We expect the Polo to reach our shores in the second half of 2018. That’s because it is expected to launch in European markets first, followed by the American and Asian markets. What’s your take on the upcoming Volkswagen Polo?
