Tata has already revealed the engine specification of the Nexon. It will have an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. Both the engines will be mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. Check out the specifications of the engines here
When Launched, The Nexon Will Become The First Tata To Feature Android Auto And Apple CarPlay!
Tata’s first sub-4 meter SUV, the Nexon, is around the corner, and to keep the momentum going for it, Tata has been revealing its engine specifications and features to the public in a phased manner. Now, we have finally got our hands on its list of features, we can safely say that the Nexon will have enough goodies in its arsenal to take the fight to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
To begin with, the Tata Nexon will pack a 6.5-inch free floating high definition touchscreen infotainment unit powered by Harman which Tata calls the ConnectNext system. The screen size is larger than the ones found in other Tata cars on sale. The ConnectNext system will be paired to an 8-speaker setup. Considering the great sound quality found in other Tata cars like the Tiago and the Tigor, expect the Nexon’s setup to sound brilliant as well.
Also on offer is support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (update for CarPlay will be added later), which is again a first for any Tata. Even Tata’s flagship, the Hexa, lacks this feature.
Tata has retained the sliding door storage space in the centre console found in the near-production version of the Tata Nexon that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The automaker calls it the ‘sliding tambour door mechanism’ and we must say it looks classy and upmarket.
Just ahead of it is a rotary dial which lets you select between its three driving modes: Eco, City and Sport. Switching between these modes alters the response of the engine according to a pre-set tune.
Like the Nexon's silhouette, it seems Tata has taken inspiration from the Range Rover Evoque for the interior as well. The high-set centre console, sliding tambour-style door and rotary knob are all reminiscent of the Evoque (check out the image below).
The Nexon will be launched around the festive season this year and Tata has already rolled out the first batch of SUVs which will be heading to dealerships across the country to help prospective customers take a look at it.
