First are the looks and design cues. They clearly remind you that this is a baby Grand Cherokee (especially from the front). At the front, you have Jeep’s signature seven-slat grille that is finished in chrome. You get Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs. The side profile is characterised by clean lines and trapezoidal wheel arches. The top end Limited variant gets 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear gets LED tail-lights.

The Jeep Compass has been given a neat looking dashboard layout. It gets a beige-black dual-tone treatment. The steering wheel gets buttons for audio. The instrument cluster gets an easily readable MID unit. Music needs are being taken care by a touchscreen infotainment system that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The seats are well-cushioned offering good under-thigh support.

Coming to the heart of the Jeep Compass, it is powered by 2 engines. A 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol engine and a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine. While the 2.0-litre turbo diesel makes 173 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque, the 1.4-litre petrol makes 162 HP and 250 Nm of torque.

The diesel engine is available with a six-speed manual transmission as of now, but Jeep will offer an automatic transmission at a later date. The petrol engine will be offered with with both MT and AT options.

Other features include six airbags, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS, ISOFIX seat mounts, six-speaker audio system, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill Start Assist, AWD system with four modes – Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud, frequency selective damping suspension, all four disc brakes, all season tyres, Panic Brake Assist, Electric Parking Brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, 178 mm ground clearance, rear AC vents and Dynamic Steering Torque.
