Piaggio Vespa 946, the super expensive scooter of India, was launched last year to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Italian manufacturer. Launched as the Emporio Armani edition, its price tag of Rs 12.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) positioned it bang in the middle of Indian super bike territory. Very rightly, Piaggio described it as a collector’s item.

During its 10-month stint in our market, the Vespa 946 didn’t find any takers. Following the maturity of Piaggio-Armani contract, the Super Premium scooter has been withdrawn from the market. The Italian scooter, signed by Giorgio Armani, used a special galvanized satin paint treatment and featured LED lighting as well.

The Vespa 946, powered by a 125cc fuel-injected engine, produced 12.7 BHP of power. The retro-styled scooter came equipped with dual-channel ABS and ASR traction control system. In India, the title of the most expensive scooter rests with the Aprilia SRV 850 which is priced at Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
