The Maruti S-Cross facelift is expected to be launched towards this month end. Recent reports revealed that Maruti has decided to discontinue the powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine in the S-Cross facelift.

That said, we now have news that the company will be offering the smart hybrid system (as seen in the Ciaz and the Ertiga) in the S-Cross facelift.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine producing 89 HP of power and 200 Nm of torque will continue to power the S-Cross facelift.

This oil-burner unit comes matched to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine featuring the smart hybrid system will see a 7 percent improvement in the fuel-efficiency over the current 1.3-litre diesel. Hike in the rates of taxes under GST and withdrawal of incentives for hybrid powered cars will shoot up the prices for the S-Cross facelift.

Prices for the current selling S-Cross start from Rs 7.94 lakh for the 1.3-litre diesel Sigma variant and go all the way up to Rs 10.55 lakhs for the 1.3-litre diesel Alpha variant (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

A petrol engine was expected to be introduced in the S-Cross facelift, however, recent reports suggest that there will be no petrol engine on offer at least at the time of launch.

The S-Cross facelift will come with an updated front fascia which features a new vertically stacked chrome grille and LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs.

There are tweaks to the front and rear bumpers as well. Interior will feature a new upholstery and minor equipment upgrades.

Maruti has started taking bookings for the facelifted S-Cross and this crossover, as usual, will be sold only through the NEXA premium outlets.
