The Ford Figo (both hatchback and sedan versions) which is sold as Ka in global markets has been crash tested by Latin NCAP and shockingly both the cars came out with a score of 0 stars. Why shocking? The Figo had scored four stars back in 2015. The updation of the crash test protocols has led to the Figo scoring a 0-star rating.

The video shows the Figo being put through front and side impact tests. Though the car’s structure remains intact, chest and thigh protection for the driver and front passenger was found to be marginal. Also, the side impact tests reveal that the passengers could suffer high levels of chest injury. The car did manage to score 3 stars for the child occupant safety.

The car tested here comes equipped with dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS and ESC. Both the cars had no side impact energy absorbents and also no pelvis energy absorbent elements in the door or door pads. The absence of the side airbags also has led to the cars scoring a 0 star rating. The sedan version of the Figo tested here isn’t the sub-4 metre Aspire that the Indian market gets.
