TVS Motor Company has silently hiked the price of its flagship model, the Apache RR 310, by Rs 8,000. The 310cc sportsbike, which was launched at Rs 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), now costs Rs 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Dealers say the price hike came into effect on April 1, 2018. We expect TVS to announce the price hike to the public soon. The TVS flagship is yet to reach many showrooms and bookings have been piling up in the last couple of weeks.

Since the initial launch price was only introductory, the price hike doesn’t come across as a surprise. TVS is treating the Apache RR 310 as a premium offering and is, therefore, selling it only through select dealerships. Depending on the region, the Apache RR 310 commands a waiting period ranging from three to six months for the red paint option and about five months for the matte black finish.

Designed in-house, the Apache RR 310 gets a host of premium features like LED projector headlamps, LED taillight, switchgear derived from BMW G310R and a fully-digital MID that is stacked vertically. Mechanical components include upside down front forks and a rear monoshock developed by Kayaba. Braking is managed by a 300mm petal disc at the front and a 240mm rear disc with Bybre callipers and dual-channel ABS.

The TVS Apache RR 310 is powered by the same 312cc motor that powers the BMW G310R. The single-cylinder, reverse-inclined, liquid-cooled engine produces 34PS of power and 27.3Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The TVS Apache competes against the KTM RC 390 (Rs 2.29 lakh), the Kawasaki Ninja 300 (Rs 3.60 lakh), the Yamaha R3 and Benelli 302R, both of which are priced at Rs 3.48 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
