Suzuki’s premium five-seat MPV was caught testing in Gurugram
Suzuki’s premium MPV, the Solio, was spotted testing in Gurugram, Haryana recently. The Solio was first showcased in the country at the Auto Expo 2012. That version, however, featured seven seats. The MPV caught testing recently had just five seats and also featured electric sliding doors for the rear passengers.
The Solio was first spotted testing before the Auto Expo 2018 and many expected Maruti Suzuki to showcase the latest version at India’s largest auto show. However, the Manesar-based carmaker decided against it, probably not to detract attention from its biggest launch for the year, the 2018 Swift. That said, the recent spy shots suggest that Maruti Suzuki is indeed keen on launching the boxy MPV in the Indian market. If not that, then we think the company could probably be testing the hybrid version of the 1.2-litre K12 petrol engine that powers the Japan-spec Swift and Solio.
In hybrid guise, this motor produces 92PS of power and 118Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated 1.2-litre engine that powers the Swift and many other Maruti cars, on the other hand, produces 83PS and 113Nm. Expect the hybrid motor to best the Swift’s 22kmpl fuel efficiency figure as well.
