Hindustan Petroleum has launched the highest octane-rated petrol, Power 99, at its Auto Care Centre in NS Road, Mumbai on May 1, 2018. This makes it the third Indian city to receive the high octane fuel after Bengaluru and Pune. With an octane rating of 99, the fuel is meant to prolong the engine life of high-performance cars and motorcycles.

Power 99, the company says, is capable of withstanding higher temperature during the compression stroke of an internal combustion engine without auto ignition. This results in lower engine knocking and damage. HP also says the fuel can reduce equipment failure and does not contain any harmful heavy metals and sees reduction in emissions due to superior combustion.

According HP’s research data, 93 per cent of motorists in India fill up their cars and bikes with regular petrol while the rest opt for premium higher octane fuel. In metro cities, regular petrol has an octane rating of 91 while premium petrol has a rating of 97. We expect HP to introduce Power 99 in Delhi-NCR soon.
