Nissan has unveiled its new body-on-frame SUV, the Terra, in the Philippines for the South East Asian market. The Terra is touted as the spiritual successor of the previous frame-based generations of the Nissan Pathfinder. It made its world debut in China in March 2018 (on sale there since April 2018) and now the Philippines has become its second market.

While the Terra’s Chinese version is a petrol-only model powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine (183PS/251Nm), the South East Asia-spec SUV is pulled by a diesel engine. As expected, the Terra has borrowed the diesel powertrain from its pickup truck counterpart, the Nissan Navara. Powered by Nissan’s 2.5-litre YD25 diesel, the Terra diesel puts out a healthy 190PS of max power and 450Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or an optional 7-speed torque converter automatic.

Like its rivals, the Terra is feature-loaded too. Its equipment list includes seven airbags, 360-degree camera, and LED lighting, among others. Read in detail about what it packs here.

Nissan has confirmed the Terra SUV for Thailand and Indonesian markets, where it will be launched in this fiscal year. Other markets included are Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Speaking of the Indian market, there is no reason for Nissan to hold back the Terra’s introduction in the country as the automaker can easily assemble the SUV here with kits from its South East Asian production hub, Thailand. Ford also follows the same route for the Endeavour.
