The third-gen Maruti WagonR will be available with two petrol engine options this time around

Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce the third-gen Wagon R tomorrow. Pre-launch bookings for the Maruti Wagon R 2019 began on January 14 for a minimum amount of Rs 11,000. It carries forward the famed tallboy design philosophy of the previous models, albeit in a completely redesigned avatar. The new Wagon R is available in three variants: L, V and Z, wherein the Z has been added for the first time.
Based on Suzuki’s latest Heartect platform, the new Wagon R is bigger than the previous model. It shares the platform with bigger cars like the Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Ignis and the Ertiga. Thanks to the new lightweight modular platform, the new Wagon R has shed some weight as well.

The third-gen Wagon R will be available with two petrol engines. While it will carry forward the existing 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine, there will be a bigger 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder motor on offer as well. The more powerful motor can also be found under the bonnet of the Swift and Baleno. Both the engines will be offered with an optional AMT.

The third-gen Wagon R will get a driver airbag, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard. Higher variants will get a front passenger airbag as well. It will also pack Maruti’s new 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, which might offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options.
The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Santro as well as the updated Datsun GO and Tata Tiago. It is expected to be priced in range of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
