tigersLahore: An Indian leopard has been shot dead by villagers after it strayed into Pakistan's Punjab province, the third such incident this year.

The big cat was killed in Din Garh area of Cholistan's forest pocket, 400 kilometres from Lahore, after it had strayed into the region a few days ago and attacked some residents, critically injuring two of them, Mujahid Kalim, an official from Punjab Wildlife Department said.
"A wildlife team reached there and overpowered the beast after tranquilising it with a gun. The leopard, however, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Bahawalpur Zoo," Kalim said.
Previously, a strayed leopard was killed in Narowal sector near the international border in January, while another one was shot dead in Ferozewala, 60 kilometres from Lahore, in February.
