Expects new MPV to drive its sales past 1 lakh mark in 2013 American carmaker General Motors sounded upbeat on Chevrolet Enjoy, saying the multi-purpose vehicle would drive its sales past one lakh mark during the calendar year 2013. "GM India clocked 92,000 units last year. With Chevrolet Enjoy arriving into our stable, our sales will cross one lakh mark this year, though I can't give the exact figure," Rajesh Singh, vice president (Sales, Marketing and After Sales), GM India, told media here after launching Chevrolet Enjoy into Andhra Pradesh market. Singh said Enjoy and recently-launched Chevrolet Sail sedan would drive the growth. "GM will outperform industry and log in double digit growth during April-June period on the back of the new launches. Our market share will also go up," he maintained, pointing out that overall auto sales would continue to remain sluggish for some more time. He blamed economic slowdown and high interest rates for the subdued demand for cars. "Things are likely to improve second half of the 2013 as festive season will provide a trigger for sales growth," he explained. Explaining the features of Chevrolet Enjoy, he said the MPV was adorned with many innovative features including spacious cabin, copious headroom and legroom, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, power windows and power adjustable outside mirrors. The model is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel avatar is power by 1.3 litre mill that delivers peak power of 77.5 PS and 188 Nm torque. It offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 18.2 kmpl.
