Force Motors has launched a new base variant of Force One, its maiden sports utility vehicle. Called Force One EX and priced at Rs 8.99 (ex showroom, Delhi), the new variant is powered by a 2.6 litre TD2650 FTI engine which generates 82 PS power at 3,200 rpm and delivers peak torque of 230 Nm between 1800 to 2000 rpm.

The engine is mated to five-speed synchromesh gear box that shares lineage with Mercedes G1-18 box. This seven-seat SUV, however, conforms to Bharat Stage III emissions and so, is not eligible for sale in large cities. So, this model is targeted at small cities and rural markets where Force Motors is doing comparatively well.

“With the Force One EX, we will initially target Tier II and III towns. But within six months, the company will upgrade the engine of this variant to BS IV from the current BS III in order to be able to sell in cities like Delhi,” said Force Motors Managing Director Prasan Firodia.
