Hyderabad: Korean carmaker Hyundai has launched its new compact car Grand i10 in the city on Tuesday. Offered with both diesel and petrol engine options, this new model is expected to expand its market share in the city and Andhra Pradesh.
“Andhra Pradesh accounts for monthly average car sales of around 9,000 units with diesel models contributing major chunk. Our company enjoys over 19 per cent market share in this space. As we are offering diesel option for the first time in the compact segment with Grand i10, we expect our market share to go up in the State,” Rakesh Srivastava, Sr Vice President, Hyundai Motor India, told media here after launching the Grand i10.
The Korean carmaker is looking to sell around 6.45 lakh units during 2013, marginally up from 6.4 lakh units it managed to sell last calendar year. “The auto industry is passing through challenging times in India this year with passenger car sales registering a significant decline. But Hyundai will manage to post sales growth this year too,” he said. Hyundai is planning to enter into high growth segments such as compact SUV and sedan currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Renault Duster. “These are very important segments and we will have presence in them as well,” he said. Available in eight colours, Grand i10 comes with several innovative features such as rear AC vents.
