Hyderabad: In a significant observation, the AP’s IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said, after bifurcation the Telangana state will have to address three major challenges – power, irrigation and employment generation.

Addressing the realtors in Hyderabad on Friday, the Minister said, although the brand Hyderabad cannot be disturbed, the lack of power would give hardship to most of the industries in the state. This may hinder the prospects of industrialization in the state of Telangana.

Lakshmaiah inaugurated CREDAI Hyderabad Property Show 2014 on Friday. The show had a participation of about 100 odd developers who have showcased their projects.

Claiming that the power consumption is increasing in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts in the last five year, Lakshmaiah felt there is a need for identifying alternative methods of power generation including solar power. “It is true that Seemandhra turns power surplus as they have large generation plants, and now we cannot grumble for that. We have to find a solution for the problem of power deficit to make Hyderabad more viable investment destination,” Lakshmaiahsaid.

Giving a fair solution, Lakshmaiah said the new government has to revisit solar power policy and make it more user- friendly. If required, “We may have to make it (solar power) mandatory for industry, business and big residential complex to establish solar power units,” Lakshmiah added. The other major challenges the government may include irrigation and employment generation, he pointed out.

Earlier, speaking at the event, CREDAI National President C Shekar Reddy said that the property prices in Hyderabad due for increase to about 30 per cent in the next 6 to 8 months. “Once the correction takes place in Chennai and other cities, we are expecting, in Hyderabad the property prices also to increase,” Reddy said.

At present, the property prices are the lowest and since the uncertainty about the statehood is cleared, it is time to purchase property in Hyderabad, he said.
