Of Sanjay Dutt’s parole, Nana Patekar & boycotting for greater cause

“You will see his movies and make him hero. Then you will say that he should not be granted parole. We could at least boycott the movies in which Sanjay Dutt acted.” Nana Patekar though said so regarding Sanjay Dutt, this reminds us of our national duty to be performed at our own level. It is such a weapon, the boycott, which we can use for many causes, and that too in a very natural and effortless fashion.

True that the roll of those raising the voice at higher level against the injustice can’t be underrated, for it is these voices which do the work of bringing the ruling power indulging in arbitrariness into sense. But they who have none to hear their voices, or who has no importance for the media, or they who know not beyond criticizing the things around while watching the TV at home, or spending the time on the squares, or while gossiping at the work -place— they all should take note of what Nana Patekar hints at. Boycott is that weapon which can be used against traitors like Sanjay Dutt inside the country; they can as well be used against the adversaries lurking on the border of the country.

Gandhiji knew that each and everybody lack the capacity to risk lives or suffer the pain in waging war against British, but they have as much capacity as to boycott the British goods and nobody can force them not to do so. Hence he used this as a weapon to utmost effectiveness.

Today, the countries sharing borders with China are facing its bully. One among them is India too. For those of us who wants China to be taught a lesson, they can do so sitting in the confines of home itself. As much threat is being posed by it beyond the border, so much is being done within the border, inside the country. Growing influence of Chinese goods in our market is enough to feel it. There may be diplomatic compulsion before the country to avoid the confrontation on the border, but within the border we have no compulsion of not boycotting the Chinese goods. No matter we could give no contribution by going to the border, but by boycotting the Chinese goods from wherever we are we could at least do this much in the interest of the nation.
