Plans to deploy 550 additional network sites across the State

Hyderabad: Telecom operator Uninor on Wednesday said it would embark on its largest-ever network expansion in Andhra Pradesh by deploying 550 new network sites in the next three months. After the expansion, the company will have a total of over 3,500 network sites in the State. “The deployment of new sites will expand our reach across Andhra Pradesh,” Satish Kannan, Circle Business Head- AP, Uninor said.

The expansion initiative comes on the back of Uninor acquiring an additional 1.4 MHz of spectrum in AP in the 1,800 MHz band. The total spectrum for AP with this addition will be 6.4 MHz. “This strengthening of spectrum will lead to superior voice and data services,” he added. At present, Uninor serves over 4.5 million subscribers across the State. The company which achieved break-even in the circle last year has been focusing on pre-paid customers who constitute nearly 99 per cent of its customer base.
