German carmaker Mercedes Benz rolled out the locally made diesel variant of its luxury sedan S Class 350, priced at Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom Maharashtra). This is for the first time that Mercedes is introducing the diesel variant of its popular S-Class models. “We are delighted to make the new S-Class 350 CDI at our plant in Chakan near Pune, and offer the much awaited diesel option of the new S-Class for our discerning customers.
Quality has all along been the strength of Mercedes-Benz India, and the new S-350 CDI production in India is set to take this success story even further,” said Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India. Mercedes had for the first time introduced body manufacturing for the S-Class locally, he added. The luxury sedan is the fifth product launched by the German luxury carmaker, which occupied the No 2 slot in market share in the domestic market last year.
